Founded by Dinesh Chand in 1997, Forefront Mission is led by indigenous staff leaders – men and women who are often second and “third generation” disciples. New Testament evangelism and multiplication is a way of life.

From the beginning, when 25-year-old Dinesh returned home to India after advanced study abroad, His passion has been to serve fellow Indians – to meet the humanitarian and spiritual needs of his people.“I believe,” says Dinesh, “that after 2000 years of darkness, the time has come for our people to have the Gospel.”

His personal passion is to motivate, exhort and train fellow indigenous leaders to serve God in their own culture and language – not to become dependent on outside aid or help.

Even for those born in extreme poverty with little education, indigenous leaders are still the most effective way to communicate Gospel truths and life-styles. “They know best their local challenges, languages, and vocational needs,” says Dinesh. “They are humble servants of all and they have the changed lives that demonstrate the power of the Holy Spirit.

“That’s why supporting the leaders of these indigenous movements is fundamental to all we do.”

Reproduction and multiplication in the power of the Holy Spirit continues to be the cornerstone of Chand’s approach to loving and serving the ethnic minority groups of India. These training programs follow the first-century apostolic principles of II Timothy 2:2.

Seeking Truth

Dinesh Chand was born and brought up in an orthodox Hindu family in North India. His home state is referred to as the abode of idols in India and is the least evangelized state. With 0.08% Christians, you can meet only 1 Christian for every thousand residents. Right from Dinesh’s childhood, he was seeking after the truth. He found no answers.

After turning from a Hindu to an atheist to an agnostic, he became very frustrated and gave up. When he was 22 years old, he heard of the name Jesus for the first time when he met an American tourist in a restaurant. Within two years, he met her in three unusual encounters. Each time, she shared about Jesus. On her third visit to India, Dinesh knew that the Lord was knocking on the door to his heart and he experienced Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior.

After completing his studies, the Lord called him into full-time ministry. He began to serve in the local church in New Delhi. He was mentored and went on to Bible college in Singapore. He then served as a youth pastor for two years before he was ordained as the senior pastor of a church in New Delhi. He served for eight years with this church and it was there that he met his wife, Rachel, while she was visiting India.

Soon after they met, they knew God had called them to serve the Lord together. After they were married in 1997, God reminded Dinesh of his people group in the mountains and of the lost in his home state. In 1998, Dinesh and Rachel started full-time ministry in North India. They birthed the ministry of Forefront Mission.
